There are 1000s of free fonts available via a quick google search. And also a head-spinning number of blogs that round up their favs of this style or that. What did we designers do before search engines and also the advent of the sharing economy?
I'm often on the hunt for a header font. Something that is easy to read but has a certain of-the-moment feel with out being too derivative or hard to read. It's a tall order when hunting the free font world because most—I'd say 99%—are created by very talented people but they aren't full of all the glyphs and extras (apostrophes, etc.) of a standard standard font family or the store-bought variety. Most are just a taste and you have to pay to get the rest. But if you want to stick to the free route (following all the license rules as described by the font's owner), here are some great options.
